3. Who needs a mortgage advisor anyway? PDF Print E-mail
Surely I can do myself what mortgage advisors do! I can go to the same lenders as they do. I can ring round the lenders and compare rates myself. I can look through the various lenders' products on one of the many mortgage comparison sites on the internet.

OK - if that's what you want to do, we suggest you get on with it and we hope it works out for you!

On the other hand, what is the point of you doing all of that research, when we  can do it all for you completely free of charge?

True, there are mortgage advisors out there who will charge a fee for the work they do for you. And some will charge quite extortionate fees at that - we charge you nothing.

Every enquiry we receive is examined carefully. Somtimes - particularly during the credit crunch situation through which we are passing at present - we may not be able to help bu twe will certainly tell you why if this should be the case, and perhaps what could be done to make a successful application.

We will source the products and facilities of every lender in the market. Not only the Abbeys and the Halifax's and other well known names, but also some of the smaller lenders you may never even have heard of, but who sometimes come up with a particular niche product. And of course, many available ‘best buy' products are not available direct to the public anyway as the lenders reserve them for use by the mortgage advisors who give them so much business.

We sometimes cringe when we see the tables of so called ‘best buys' which appear regularly in the financial columns of our daily newspapers. When we look at these we sometimes think to ourselves ‘surely they know about such and such restriction', or ‘but why don't they mention xyz lender' We don't only look at the headline rates - we look at the ‘small print' which a casual observer may not spot or understand for example.

If we can't help it is highly unlikely that anyone else can - after all we are not some ‘fly by night' outfit - we've been in the business for nearly 40 years! We have the expertise, skill and knowledge in dealing with mortgage enquiries that would be difficult to match elsewhere.

Whether the enquiry is for a small re-mortgage arrangement where we know from the start that because of our no fees policy we are going to make a loss out of the transaction, or a specialist requirement which will involve us in much costly research, or a straightforward ‘run of the mill' enquiry - all will receive the same care and attention.
